....Easy out not so easy....

Busted Nut
So I "Planned" on buying one of those Stainless Bolt kits for the 82 KZ 750....Yesterday I Go to take the stator cover off and all 4 (phillips heads) Screws are rusted to shit I mean Bad....Phillips won't work, can't even budge them with it....Bust out the vice grips get em on there and 3 come out no problem....Can you guess what happened to the last one?.....So I buy my first easy out (no directions)....But it comes with a drill bit and i've seen this done before....So I have at it.....after drilling out the center of "Busted Nut" i stick the easy out in the divit and have at it.....Nothing....I drill deeper.....Easy out....Nothing.....So now that I feel like i'm drilling directly into my engine...Am I doing This the right way? I'll post pics soon

After it broke and before i drilled I sanded the top Flat And Gave a few good whacks with a hammer.....

pics....The bottom one you can see the broken bolt it's blurry because i couldn't focus.....This is basically no longer there as its snapped off and i'm drilling deeper than expected....anything I can do? better easy out?

Are you using an impact driver with the easy out? Is the easy out biting into the broken bolt?

no impact driver I was using an air drill....Don't have an impact driver yet...(maybe i'll check tomorrows Flea Market)....I do have a Regular electric Drill that's easier to control the speed on...thanks for mentioning that Transient

EZ out is too big for that size bolt. You need a smaller size. Also, NEVER use a drill with an extractor. They are designed to be turned with a wrench at slow speed, so they can bite into the metal and carefully free the stuck fastener.

If that doesn't help, use the drill and collapse thread technique Swivel mentioned, it works out well 99% of the time, just BE PATIENT. Do not rush extracting stuck bolts, or you'll find yourself deeper than when you started.
