EMGO Universal Exhaust

This might just be a passing whim, but has anyone had experience with EMGO Univeral fit exhaust? I am looking at these in particular:

They are inexpensive (sold individually), but are they "cheap"? Will they discolor fast? Will they rust on a sunny day?

not bad..
Looks exactly like the ones that I have on my xs at the moment.
You would probabbly want ones that have a removable baffle in them...
These are very..VERY..quiet. I wasnt happy with the quietness of this exhaust so LilBeast did a bit of surgery on my set...

All in all, you'd be happier with a set that has a removable baffle.

here.. Get these... about the same price:

just make sure that you get the 1.5 inch opening

Really? Thats funny cuz some initial "reviews" I googled said that they were too loud!  :D
I guess I will wait and see...I just don't like the look of the DIY exhaust pipes my previous owner cooked up.

EDIT: wow those bad boys are LONG 27-3/4" !!!!

I’m running emgo’s now, but not the reverse cone, they’re the widemouth megaphone. They’re good quality, and the chrome looks great, but Noel is right they’re very quite. I removed the baffles from mine, they got loud as hell but then sounded too much like a 2 stroke. I ended up packing them with sport bike fiberglass packing ($20) with some wire mesh to keep the packing nice and tight to the inner sides and man what a difference that made! They throw off a real throaty load roar now! I’m very happy with the Emgo’s at this point!

Thanks for the advice. I am liking these EMGO pipes more and more, I just wish the dunstalls were about 7 inches shorter. I guess I can deal with that when I am ready to order a pair. The headers on my 360 (I think they may be custom made) are 1 1/2" in diameter so I am pretty good with most of what is on the market. I did not pay much attention at the time, but the pipes installed by the previous owner always came into contact with the centerstand when it was flipped up. I think that I am going to end up losing the centerstand once I install whatever pipes I decide on back on the bike .

i run emgo shorty mufflers, and they sound damn fine, i left the baffles in for now and they are plenty loud ;D we did have to slit the ends like on the original muffler where it goes around the header and use the original exhaust clamps

me and the neighbor had a sound off with the bikes the other day and i won ;D he has a new bike of some kind, i think it is a suzuki

Sounds good everyone. I am going to do a little bit of measuring and MS Paint-ing to see how they measure up on my bike. At the moment I am really diggin' the EMGO reverse cone muffler. It has that "Dunstall" look to it, has a repackable baffle and it is not 27" long. I'll probably make my decision this weekend.

OK its settled I bought the dunstall replicas on crc2. I triple checked my headers and they are indeed 1-1/2". The reverse cones are a bit more sporty, but they are too short and fat. The Dunstalls appeared to be too long, but upon a closer look, they were just right. I just hope they are as loud as people say, the straight DIY exhaust my PO did woke the dead!

Here's my Emgo shorty mated to a Hooker header set-up.

I cut quite a bit out of it and welded it directly to the header pipe to make it work. It is loud enough to get looks (or maybe it's just the bike ;D)

I like the blacked out look, and how the muffler is pointed up! Sweet pic! I will post a pic of mine when the pipes come in. While I am waiting, how much of the exhaust slips onto the header? 2 inches approx?

well, that was the original idea-to have the muffler shoulder into the header. What we ended up doing was cutting it flush to the pipe, welding a nice bead, and grinding smooth with a FLAP DISK-not STONE! (the caps are for me as a reminder ::)). The guy that welded the pipe is kick as and usually does custom open header exhausts for hot rods, so I was lucky

So the pipes got delivered today. These are a LOT bigger and heavier than I imagined!

I will see how they mount up tomorrow and post pics in my main thread.

So the 360 does look great with them on and the 1-1/2" adapter is perfect! With new parts comes new issues as always :-\
The exhaust mounting bracket hole diameter is smaller than the diameter of the bolt I that fits that permanent nut for the passenger footpeg. I will have to do a wee bit of drilling into that new chrome

I did take pictures, but my stupid camera ran outta batteries and there were no spares in the house

so far this is my third year on the Emgo's. they really make the bike sound alot bigger than it is LOL. chrome has some scratches, but they have been holding up well!
