Emulators in cb450

Got my package from RaceTech today: springs, emulators, and oil but after reading through the instructions I'm stumped. This is the fork type I have and they are supposed to go between the spring and the damping rod...but theres a rod where the spring slides over attached to the damping rod. Anyone done this before?

I spoke with RaceTech, they told me to return the emulators because they won't go in even with modification. Debating keeping the springs or returning them too...

Fresh springs will help, but if you're serious about your front suspension, maybe look at a different set of forks that the emulators will work with. I've got RaceTech springs and emulators in my XS650 and like them a lot (I'm still alive, so they're doing their job).

Thanks Tim I think I'll do that. Problem is anything off craigslist or fleabay can't guarantee what year the forks come from so I might be purchasing the same, unusable setup as what I already have. Any chance the 500Ts are guaranteed to work?
