Engine swap/uprade

Working on my first project. I bought an 82 honda cm200t and am wanting to switch the engine out for something more powerful but don't know which engines would match, parts to increase performance or where to find them. Please help.

Do you have any idea which way you want to go here? There are limits to what you could/should do with engine swaps. You dont want to seriously overpower chassis, suspension and brakes, and end up with a death trap.

The Honda VT250 or VTR250 would be a power upgrade (about 35hp), but I have no idea what would be involved in making a V Twin engine fit into your frame.

Unless you have the skills or the money to do this properly (safely) probably better to stick with the 200t.

A good engine build with a balance job, clean up the porting, better breathing with freer flowing airfilter and exhaust will find a surprising extra number of horses in that stock motor.

If you want more power out of a CM200 you want a bigger bike. There's virtually no performance parts aftermarket and you will never recover the costs anyway come sale time.
