engine transplant

what's up guys.

i now realize that this is an elitist forum for skilled people and is not a place for DIY home projects, however since i've already registered i though to ask you for an opinion.

i don't have a big bike, i want to put 125cc machine on a frame from 50cc motorcycle and i was wondering whether the frame will be suitable.

can the frame holds a 125cc engine? let's say from something like honda cb125. i know a guy who welds and he can put some "holders" (sorry if this is an incorrect term) so we can attach the engine to the frame. spare parts for this bike are not accessible to me, so i wanted to "plant" a new engine on it.

i apologize if i offended someone by my post and i am happy if i made someone laugh. if you don't have the time for discussion can you please recommend me a more appropriate forum? if someone wants to help i can post pictures of my "bike" so you can all laugh. no. seriously, i will post actual pictures from my bike and will draw where i'm planing to put the holders and attach the engine. i realize i can go and get a bike with less hassle but i also want to build.

You might be better off looking at a Honda CT engine - the 125 is "upright" whilst your donor chassis is holding a "flat" engine layout.


Will it hold? If your buddy is good at welding up engine mounts, most likely yes.


Is it a great idea? Probably not.


Should you do it? Absolutely!

since i've posted i've realized that using a bigger engine will probably wear down the existing equipment (tires, brakes, chain) and i'll have to change an exhaust and much more.

i guess skilled or specialized would be more appropriate than elitist. thanks for your advice. thanks
