First bike and build, 1972 Cb350

Hello all, this will be my first cafe build and I thought id share it with you guys and hopefully get some insight and tips along the way. I recently bought a 1972 Cb350 twin cylinder off of craigslist for $750. The bike had about 29,000 miles on it so it was safe to say the engine would have to be rebuilt. Once i got the bike home it was pretty clear that the previous owner had no experience with motorcycles or just engines in general. The timing was as off as you could possibly get it and the valves were all sorts of wrong. So after playing with it for alittle bit i finally got it started and i was beyond excited. Unfortunately after about 10 minutes the engine warmed up and my compression went to sh*t. SO i finally came to terms and said i would just rebuild the whole motor and so here we are. I dont have too many pictures of it when i first got it but ill share what i have.

And Then i started taking her all apart...

Cool exhaust. I'm not sure Ive seen a CB with high pipes on both sides.

Yeah, cool exhaust! I had one on my cb77 when I first got her but it was badly rusted. It may have been a period available aftermarket system. The CB77 version was very similar.

Yeah ive never see it before either but I think it fits the bike really well!

But seeing the 3 burns i have on my calves, im definitely going to wrap it! hah

Started talking parts off the engine and polishing a few things. But the majority of the engine will be painted with black wrinkle paint.
Also took some time to sand blast the tool box, I think im gonna just clear coat it and keep the rustic look of it.

The pipes almost look like some Hansen pipes. If so they're worth more than you paid for the bike. They look to be just open pipes. I would be willing to bet the carbs still need jetted correctly.
Tons of 350's out there you'll have ample parts and knowledge availability.
