Front Brake Caliper Replacement for 1981 CB750K?

I'm looking for a replacement front brake caliper for my motorcycle, the one that came with it is shot (brake bleeder broke off, pad sliders are corroded in place, piston won't budge). Other than ebay, craigslist, swap meets and the like does anybody know where I can find a replacement? Maybe a reliable source for rebuilt calipers? My other thought is to call aftermarket brake caliper manufacturers and see if they have anything compatible, anyone have any luck with this or know of a caliper that would work? The bike is a 1981 CB750K DOHC with a single front brake caliper. Any leads or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

It's been a rare puck indeed that I could not get unstuck with the help of a rebuilt or known good master cylinder . Fluid pressure for the win :-) Heat and beat will with time and patience loosen a stubborn or even broken bleeder screw .

I don't know of any direct swaps. I figure the GLs from these years would be the closest bet, or the cb900/1100 guys would be who to turn to for a swap. I'm fighting with the OE brake still.

At this point I'm probably going to go the ebay route, there seem to be plenty of used calipers on there. I've given up on mine, sucker just won't give anything up.

What CrazyPJ told me to do that worked great on my CB360 was to plug the brake line hole (where the banjo bolt goes in), loosen the bleeder screw, and snap the end of a grease gun over the end of the bleeder screw. Then you pump the caliper full of grease to force out the piston.

It turns out the end of a bleeder screw is about the same size as a zerk grease fitting, so you can snap the grease gun onto it and pump the caliper full of heavy grease. There's not much that will resist that much hydraulic pressure. The downside is now you have a caliper full of grease you have to clean out :)

I'll keep that in mind for future builds, but unfortunately the bleeder screw snapped off and the pad retaining pins are completely corroded in place on this one :P

Hey OP,

I'm coming down to the line on my build and I'm not looking to blow a bunch on a brake swap. If you find a way out of this caliper trouble, let me know please!

Oh damn, missed that one, sorry man. You could try to find a bleeder screw that threads into the banjo bolt hole and go that way, but it sounds like there are other issues too.

I'll definitely let you know what I end up doing. I'm going super low budget on this thing, I traded a laptop for the bike and I think i've spent about $100 on parts and I'd like to keep it that way 8)

Shit. I'm about $3000 in before a helmet or a title... After like two more cables and this brake, I'm riding though. Hope it works out!
