Front Fender Bracket Slicing Front Tire

Hello.

I recently parked my bike in the backyard and notice a really loud squeaky sound when I pushed the bike. Not only was it loud, it was difficult to push my bike this time. Apparently, the front fender's bracket has been slicing my front tire and the wheel is not aligned or something. It didn't happen before so why now?


I was thinking of deflating my tire a bit so I can ride to the shop and have the guys look at it since I don't have the man power or tools. What's a better solution to this problem?

I can't make out the details on my phone, but deflating your tire is not the solution. Can you take the fender off at least?

The bracket doesn't look distorted at all, so what's your clearance on the other side like? I'm thinking it's an alignment issue with your wheel, but that has implications for fork condition/alignment.

It looks like it's rubbing, rather than slicing. If it's not a long way, you could ride it carefully. I've ridden worse, but not too far

Hm.. that would be a better solution. I was thinking the issue probably could have started when I stop by at this motorcycle shop and the mechanic put some air in my front tire.

The other side has ample of clearance. So it could possibly mean that my forks are aligned? And jeeze, that's some pretty bad scrape you got there. Mine looks like a tiny baby scratch compare to yours.

It sounds like this has just happened? What has changed since it 'wasn't happening'? The wheel should be centred in the forks, regardless. If it's not, we need to figure out why. Was the tyre changed recently? Are the axle spacers correctly installed? What's the view from the front? Is the tyre vertical or tilted to the right? I didn't catch what model it is. If there's a disk, is it sitting in the caliper OK? Some detailed pics of these ares would help if you can manage it.

Yeah. The smoke was a bit of a give-away The rear caliper swung up and the cowl made contact. For a while. Had about 500k on a new (expensive!) tyre. They took pity and gave me a (small) discount :-[

Wow, that sucks, but at least you got a little discount on it. Here is another picture of the problem. It seems like when I roll the bike around, certain areas are rubbing more on the fender than certain areas. I still haven't been able to take the fender off due to weather and school.

This tire is fairly new, I haven't change the tire or done any work with the front. Neither have I been able to ride my Honda CB200 that long.

certain areas? Is it more than just one? are the spread around the rim? If it was one, you could say it was an alignment issue. If it more than one, sounds like your rim is buckled/needs attention. Do you notice the rim and tyre move together, or does the rim stay straight, and the tyre moves around??

Sorry, but the pics aren't much help I'm afraid. This is one of those situations where a good video would be better.

What size tyre did you fit?
It may just be way too big.
Could also be wrong mudguard, bracket looks like a drum brake CB175 not a cable disc CB200
