I'm about to pick up a new tank for my cb750, just curious if ill be able to switch the locks on the gas lid fairly easily. It's not a huge deal but it would be nice if I could easily swap them out and only need the one key still.
Lock cylinders on many can be swapped out. If not you could remove the tumblers (sounds like what Ggoldy55 has). The cap will lock in but any key will be able to remove it. I wouldn't suggest it for an ignition but for a cap lock it works fine. Always appears that a cut key is required to open it anyway so it is not a glaring security issue if you live or work in an area where people tend to want to walk off with things.
Little known fact is that on the OEM gas caps you don't need a key at all. You can open the things with a flat head screwdriver. It is simply a deterrent more than an actual locked protection.
