Gas Spraying out of my Exhaust

Hey Guys,

looking for some insight here. I had a puddle form under my bike thought it was oil,but it seams to be gas spraying out of my exhaust (where the header connects to the exhaust pipe)

the bike will idle, i give it a 1/4 twist and it stutters/pops almost like its lean,but the gas in the exhaust suggest its rich.
any thoughts ?

not knowing what bike you have i would say you have a cylinder flooding and not firiing

its a 1978 honda cb 400t, i haven't been able to work on it for a few days hope to get back at it on tuesday. i have to check the timing,and sync the carbs as well. then ill do a text with the oxygen sensor.

You sure it's gas? Combustion produces water, might be gas "flavored" water. If you look, most mufflers have a little drain hole just for the purpose of letting the water out.

Check for spark on that cylinder and set timing.

Did you look closely? A lot of bikes have fuel run off lines that let out close to the exhaust. This could be several things, a stuck float, and bad petcock, you could also have a bad float bowl gasket. I'd start with closing the petcock. Still puddling? If not, leave the petcock open and put a pan under the bike and see if you can get far enough under it to see where it is coming from.

I recently had the same issue, ended up being bad float needle, this was after the bowl gaskets gave up, and that was after finding cracked float. So along with some of these guys ideas, it might be a combination of things, or just one, but have to pinpoint where exactly the fuel is coming from...

Also, check your oil. Is the level high? Does it smell like fuel? This will let you know if to much fuel is getting into the engine. You'll need to change this a.s.a.p. to keep from wiping the connector rod bearings and other issue...
