GN250 first build

Not much of a writer but here goes. This is my sister's gn250 that she bought at a government auction. It was originally used in motorcycle training courses throughout the state which explains the many dents and scratches. I started this project to get some experience in mechanical work. The thing is ugly as sin and none too powerful but I figure it's a great place to start and the price was right! ($0 courtesy of the sister)

One of my buddies worked on restoring bikes and continues to do so which is where I got a lot of help. He also gave me the idea to make it into a psuedo cafe racer thing. My budget is pretty tight being a college student so I aptly named it the Rat Racer! I have always enjoyed the rat rods and rat bikes so this is my attempt. The bike is much further along in the building process now but here is the bike as I found it. More updates to follow as I finish up my two weeks of training this summer.

Been sick the last few days but here is a picture of how I mocked up the bike. I was working on rebuilding the carburetor and doing some other work. Still early on in the process. The bike almost looks like a tracker with the amount of travel but eventually I got that somewhat figured out.

Fast forward a couple months and a few good weekends of swearing and I somehow ended up here. The bike is operable but the brake light is kinda iffy, the seat pan cost me $8, the blinkers don't work, the gas tank is held on by metal zip ties, the seat is propped up with a painted 2x4, and the carburetor is kinda tuned. Any suggestions would be great!
