Greetings from Alabama guys and gals!

Kanticoy

Mad Science!
DTT BOTM WINNER
Just wanted to say Hi, and thanks for being out there! It proves to my wife that I am not insane for coming indoors greasy and nasty every night for the sake of a hunk of metal that I found in someone's basement. I love these things, and I love the people who share my passion. I just wanted to say Hi, and that I'll be lurking around here as long as you guys are! I've been building bikes for years, and now I feel no so alone! Ha! Anyway see you in the boards!

Here's a few pics of my last project which is still unfinished. I have another 360 that I plan to convert to monoshock and all kinds of other stuff...stay tuned.

awesome project, and welcome!
get the wifey involved!

Welcome to the board! Where in Bama are ya located? I'm in Gulf Shores. Anyway the bike looks fantatstic. See ya 'round!
Alex

I'm actually in the process of getting her involved! I'm working on CB360 #2, and that way she can get that wind in her hair Cafe style. She's ridden on the run of the Mill cruiser, but nothing with drop bars and uncomfortable seats! I appreciate the compliments, there will be more projects to come....such is the life of an obsessed man. And Deviant, I am in Birmingham. A buddy of mine and I are trying to get a club going for us southerners to mingle so all of the other people in the states don't get all of the fun! Keep in touch and we'll get some rides happenin!

Hells Yeah! I've never ridden with other cafe bikes. This week I spotted another cafe racer here in gulf shores, and that makes three including my bike.

no kidding, right?! I have 2 friends...so there's three around here. not a plethora for sure.

Oh Heck yeah! I'd love to have a group of a bunch of ton up boys and girls tearing up the southeast streets! Those Harley dudes wouldn't know what hit them when we got more attention at the local rides than their 30,000 machines!!! By all means! Hit me up!

Just found this thread. Bike is georgous! Man I really dig the small twins too. I just think they are too cool. Is that a stock swing arm? That tire looks pretty fat. I'm loving it! I love everything about it. Info on the paint? Very sweet! Troy

Alright! We got us a pack of harely-eating bikes! ;D
We gotta get up and do a cruise sometime! My bike's apart at the moment, but it'll be back together by Sept. 20 for the Don Turk Charity ride/show/party.
So anytime after that is cool! If you guys wanna run over to Fairhope on the 20th, there's gonna be four bands on two stages, vendors, the Gear Jammers car club will be there with a bunch of old hot rods, and there's food. Lots of badass bikes as well, unless you guys show up I'll probably be the only cafe guy there. Plus Don Turk is a friend of mine who got t-boned by a drunkard in a truck on his bike back in July. He lost his leg and has had a stroke and lots of other complications, so we're all throwing this party to help raise money to cover his bills. Dude's a vietnam vet and his son is in Iraq right now, the accident was in July and he's already got a prosthetic and he's walking with a walker for an hour a day. Anyway it'll be at Oak Hollow Farms on Sept. 20. There will be a poker run and a drawdown. The grand prize in the drawdown is five thousand dollars. The tickets are 100 for a pair on one bike, it includes a good meal, the bands, the ride, the drawdown, everything. Or if you just want to come listen to bands and check out bikes, that's free I think. The meals alone are $5. This is going to be an annual event as some of the folks helping to throw it have already hadled the legal paperwork to make this a legitimate charity. Future events will go toward helping other local riders who are injured and in need of help due to a wreck on their bike.
Sorry for the commercial, but I'm helping put this on and I promised to get the word out. But whenever, wherever, I'm down for a ride, I've taken my bike to Mobile a few times.

Yes indeed! I would be down for that. I'll let you know about the ride in September Deviant, as long as I'm ot working, I'll make that trip....may even give me time to finish my new 360 project. I'm also down whenever and wherever! I can't get enough of the community that revolves around these old girls.

Troy, The pain on that bike is actually done with just a Craftsman paint gun from lowe's and single stage paint with a double stage clear. I think it turned out great. I painted a base coat of the crimson red with metal flake and then taped off the spades and the stripes. I then layed down the black top coat. After that I peeled the center stripe and the center of the spades off of the tank and seat and used a piece of a lace curtain from the thrift store and layed down on top of that. you have to make sure you pull the lace tight and tape it as tight as you can get it. Then you spray a black over-coat...a thin over coat over the lace. Give it about 5 minutes to dry slightly...not wet, not dry, and remove the lace. It will leave the pattern behind. It's an old school hot rod trick. First time I ever did it was on a 1939 Dodge Sedan, and have been slipping it in ever since. I'm glad you like it! I am actually thinking about selling that tank/seat combo to help fund the new 360 project, but I haven't decided. Here's a few pics to show a little more detail:

I built that seat by hand. And Troy in that picture, the swing arm is stock, but I since stretched it 2" to accomodate the tire. It's a 130/90/18 on an Excel WM6 wheel. It wasn't the swingarm that gave me problems with clearance though, it was the seat that I made. And that's when I got to scrounging around and found the 97 CBR600 swingarm for $20 from my friend icluding the monoshock setup...so here we go again! And that's going on another 360 that I bought for $200. Guys said that it wasn't running, came home, swapped the coils and timed it and it runs like brand new! Ha! But anyway, that's my story!

Really beautiful bike.... love what you have done. LOVE IT!

Thanks Norzilla! Stay tuned for the next build....bigger and better and learning from the last project....Thank you so much for the kind words.

Thanks for the info on the paint. Not sure I'd ever get to that level of painting but man that is just totally sick. To top it off that bike has georgous lines. From the tank to the tail the thing just flows like water. Then your eye comes down to that hunk of meat of a tire. Just beautiful! I could go on and on. Really nice job!
About the only thing I would do is maybe make it kick only and change out the battery for a tiny $13 gel battery.

where do you get a $13 gel battery?

Yep, she's headed for the no starter route. I didn't do it at first due to the fact that I had never even owned a bike with a kick starter, but now she'll crank with two kicks any day, So I'm reconsidering seats to fit the under the cowl battery to do just that. Another reason I want to sell that tank/seat combo. go for a new look. What will actually probably happen, is my two $360s will become one 360. I have a lot of Moolah in wheels on this bike, and don't want/cant afford to do that again, so I'll probably combine the two to create one bad a$$ mofo. And go!, you can get them several places. Heres a good one:

Hey Go, There are a couple of places on line. Advance Battery Systems is one, here: http://www.advanced-battery.com/index.html but I'll have to go out to the garage to get a number from my battery. These are kick start only and you'll have to switch to a bladed connector to hook them up, but for the price...
I'll find the link once I get the info from my battery. It is really small though and can be mounted in just about any position. Troy

Man your quick on the board or I'm just a little slow ;D If I remember correct mine is a powersonic. I'll check though.

No you're not slow. I'm just nursing my busted knuckles by using them on the keyboard. That's my routine...work on bikes on my off days, then look at them on here on my of nights. Your bike has me really drooling over the CB200 tanks troy. They look really awesome with that padded strip in the center of them, And believe it or not, that boxy look is tits.

Lol, I think that's about how a bunch of us spend our time ;D Yeah I really like the 'loaf of bread' look of that tank too. It's a little longer than the stock 360 tank and the pad does add to the look. It is a bit narrower that the stock one too. The back of the tank lines up with frame rails quite nice. I guess I'm really into lines and how things fit. That's one thing that draws me to your bike. That thing is probably my favorite on the forum. I hate to see you change it but I totally understand and can't wait to see what you end up with!

Hey Go here is a link to my battery: http://www.batteryprice.com/powersonicps-1250f112v5ahsealedleadacidbattery.aspx Sorry, the price has raised ($19 now not $13)or I bought mine somewhere else. It is a tad smaller in size than Kanticoy's link and has 1 less amp/hr at 5 instead of 6 amp/hr. Hope this helps. Troy
