Newbie from Kentucky here. I'm in the process of buying a '79 cm400 from my sisters boyfriend (got 2 more payments to make- yeah I'm poor) I'm hoping to make it a winter project on the cheap. My plan is a simple bob: solo seat, apehangers, hardtail struts and a flatblack paint job. Log term goals are a hardtail frame with a 4" stretch forward controls, a springer front end and custom paint. I'm pretty fair with a wrench, but I am totally new to motorcycles (but I have had a life-long love affair, just never had the gumption before now) so expect alot of calls for help over the next several months.

Welcome to the site. Lots of broke jokes here, myself included. Also a lot of people to help you get it done affordably. I'll be looking for the build thread.

Finally another CM400 project! Hopefully one that continues to the finish. so many others I searched out seem to just die off. I hope that doesn't happen to you or me. In retrospect I think you have the right idea for the CM400/CB400T Hawk "loopy" frame in building a bobber. I went the cafe route and there are some real challenges there. Good luck, can't wait to see Pics & Progress.

Here is my Build Thread:

Thanks for the comments guys. My family has had a finacial setback do I may not have any updates until the newyear but I will keep you guys up to date on my progress as it progresses ;D and Frankenfe, your bike is sweet! I'm not really a fan of the cafe style, but I respect anyone who can express true creativity and inovation without a huge budget.

Sorry to hear about the setback. Don't loose momentum alot of just tearing down, cleaning & or polishing can be done for little or no money.

Thanks for the appreciation for my build you expressed. That's what it is all about differences and still appreciation for the idea, work and accomplishment even when it is not to your taste.

I have no intention of losing momentom. I've been dying to tear into a motorcycle for years, I'm not going to let a little hick up stop me.
