Header flange won't fit

I've got an 82 cm250 and the other day I pulled the exhaust off.
I changed the stock airbox and put pot filters on. I ran it the other day with the headers off now the flange won't fit back in. On inspection the the groove to fit the flange had blown out from a circle to oval shape. Has this happened to anyone else and what would the best way to get the shape back to original. I'm thinking about running it again getting it hot and try and press the flange in. Thoughts?

:o Stop. If you are not a troll trying to post the most ridiculous story of the morning:

Trailer the bike (including the stock air box ) and all parts to a shop. Tell them you ran the bike without the head pipes on for ( x minutes ) (until I got hot ) (rode it around for X ). Depending on how long/ how hot you got the engine, it might be far worse than just the flanges not fitting: head warping, the exhaust valves might be toast etc.
You might be lucky and it's salvageable, however you do not have the knowledge and skills to move forward by yourself . :D

If you insist on troubleshooting over the internet post some good quality pics.

That's a gasket in there...you need new gaskets. You still may of warped the head or damaged valves...

Good luck with the PODs, they don't like CV carbs, and I suspect you bought the smallest, cheapest crap....

So you may never run right as you don't sound like you have the greatest mechanical skills or information.

This is a joke, right?

If it is not a joke, it will have been an expensive lesson.
