Hello All!! From the finally thawing state of MI

Ever get the feeling you'er outta your league? Last time I posted on a message board was several years ago on the "Folbot Forum" (several meaning severaaaaal). Have patience while I figure this stuff out. Anyway, just wanted to offer a "hello" as I've been lurking for some time. Love the board and visit several times a week. Will soon post pics of my '74 CB body/'78 mill cafe project with my new alloy seat from Sean at Roc City! Great guy to do business with, by the way. Thanks for all the info and inspiration you guys and gals provide. I look forward to officially joining your ranks this summer.

I'm 90 mi. due north of Grand Rapids. Cadillac, Michigan. Not a whole lot of Cafe'd bikes out this way, which pretty much guarantees some stares. Thanks for asking.

I've got a place in Arcadia that I go to often.

Lots of nice twisties up there on the ol' 115, 31, m22 area.

Very cool! 22 "The Leelanau Loop" is one of my favorite rides. Always stop at the Arcadia overlook and usually Empire for a little time on the beach. Love the twisties just before you hit the overlook and the long right hand sweeper as you exit the orchards and head into the woods before you start the climb to the overlook. Good riding, lots of places to stop for a bite.

Our place is in down town arcadia, by camp arcadia. I've been going there with family for years.

There's also a lot of nice dirt roads and whatnot for some enduro riding that you can find your way to the beach in some remote areas. Fun to pack a bag and to for a ride a swim.

Coming down from the outlook into frankfort is one of my favorite stretches, you can see the lake as you're twisting down though. That and if you ride the 604 coming in from copemich to Arcadia is a pretty neat ride (by the octagon house?)

Maybe we'll cross paths while i'm up there. I'd be on a beat up CL350, or a CB500.

Sorry for the lack of timely reply, been a very busy week. I've seen the posted pics of your CL and IMHO a very refined ride. great for cruising the country roads. Love those old Hondas! Anyway thanks for the tip on 604, I might have taken it by car but never by bike (does it shoot through Brethren? Like blink and you totally miss it.) Next time you're in Frankfort check out Fusion and the same owners have a bistro across the street and kitty-corner. We've eaten at Fusion and it is highly recommended.

Oh man! a man of my tastes! My wife and I eat at Fusion at least twice while we're in Arcadia..

They actually opened up a restaurant down here by me in Howell Michigan as well, but it's not as nice. Last time i was up there i noticed they had moved locations to a swankier joint.

Ever make it into the old smoke stack? That place was awesome. I miss it.

Take the 115 north towards Crystal Mountain and turn off right after copemich flea market area. Past the BP on the West you will see a very small sign for 604. It will take you back into the woods for a bit, and then a great section of twisties up and down hill until you decent into Arcadia via Grovers Lake Road. You'll pass though Humphrey, Brethren is further south almost by Onekema.

If you want a nice swimming whole that you can get a bike pretty close to, turn right on m22 off grovers lake road, and then take the next right after Lake Arcadia at Chamberlain rd. You'll go past the old cut outs for the furniture factory and end up at a nice sandy semi-private beach on lake Michigan. It's great. I ride right down to the beach sometimes because it's pretty remote. If you respect the area, most people don't care if you ride down near the beach.







I am heading up there with the bike this weekend to do some riding with my Dad. I hope the weather stays nice!
 
Hey! Thanks for the great directions! I now know where you're talking about. Awesome riding tip and will add it to my blog this summer. Great info and I look forward to checking the beach out. Always respectful to property owner's rights, but love the local info!! Such a great place to ride and hang out. Enjoy the weekend. Its supposed to be beautiful. Need to sort out the KZ before an extended road trip. Glad to hear you'll be on the road. Enjoy!
