Hi there.

I am a 25 year guy from Denmark, kinda new to the whole Bike scene, but really into old bikes and cars, especially of the british and danish kind :)
I have been wanting a motorcycle since i was a little child, my parents neighbour has a Harley something huge and completely stupid to handle, but it sounds great, and that kinda got me into the whole bike thing. My brother is also rider with a few hondas in his past, cb400 and something else.
the past few years I have been studying economics at the university and needed something to get mind off the books, but since bikes and cars are stupidly expensive in Denmark (180% tax on the original price of the car) i haven't been able to afford anything with the money quite low because of school.
until i found an old CB350 for the price of about 4000 ddk (thats around 700 dollars for all you yanks ;)

Its in pieces right now, getting ready for modding and repair, but i hope it will be up and running around March-April next year ;)

hope to find some other Cb 350 owners to correspond with and get tips from :)

#Ethanol, when you want to put plates on it again yes. then they take the original price (pretty low in the 70's due to cheap oil and everything) and add the tax to that, but because we have a law saying every vehicle above the age of 35 is a veteran it is reduced to about 80% + the ACT and insurance is pretty low when they are that old.

Also because the tax is so high the seller will want some of his money back when reselling it, thus the high price :(
most HD's(example used because everyone know them :S ) are quite expensive used, even the relatively "new" ones from the 70's and 80's.
a brand new V-rod for instance, costs around 250000ddk (45000 dollars) and i have seen used ones for a much as 15000-20000dollars ...

Wow, is it possible (if moderately illegal) to register a bike in another country and ride it legally in Denmark? I know Japan has similarly high taxes on old bikes and cars but there it is to encourage the purchasing of new vehicles (as well as to save on crowded space).

#Ethanol. its not, i now that alot of guys in the southern part of Denmark buy German cars with German plates, but since their address is in Denmark its not really legal, but they save a bundle on taxes + the German cars are often in way better condition used (less rust) because Germany sprinkles sand instead of salt on their frozen roads .. but if the taxes were only on used cars, we would have a lot newer and WAY safer cars driving around.
