hello from greece

hello dtt, i ve been lurking around for quite some time so i thought i d become a member anyway. I ve been obsessing over turning my dad's honda cb250rs, the bike i grew up on, into a bratstyle-style cafe racer. thing is, i wont be able to get my hands on it before this june as i m currently studyin in the uk, so for the moment i ll just gather as much info as i can as i m a total noob on technical aspects. i really want to do this on my own, with as little help as possible. i ll be having many hard points where i ll be thinking about quitting, but its been a long time (its the first time actually) since i found myself determined to get on and through with something i really love. peace

where in Greece are you from!? i have a house (well my father in law as a few) but the one that i go to is in Ligourio but he also has a few apartments in Nafplio in case we party too hard... just awesome country i can not wait to go back... wife and i will be there this spring again with a few friends... i looked into shipping one of my CB350s there but with customs and taxes and shipping it was not worth it... instead i will buy a bike when we are there next to keep in the garage... welcome to the site man!

this was my pimp tight ride last time i was there... we did go to some cafe that was on the sport bike tour, there had to have been 150 bikes in front of this place... i will get the name of it... we sat there for hours drinking and watching these guys make turns at 100+ was awesome!

born and raised in athens, but i ve got very good friends in nafplio, i go there all the time. i ve been to lygourio plenty of times cause my girlfriend's a studying actress and we go to epidaurus all the time for the theatre festival. its really nice down there. nice sea, wine and oranges.

What part of Greece are you from?...
I spent a few weeks in Athens and Santorini a couple of years back!!

In Santorini, in the city of Oi, I found this bike just sitting there:





I spoke to the shop keeper that this thing was parked infront of, and he mentioned that he knows nothing about that bike except that is was there parked years before he opened his shop which was over 30 YEARS AGO!!... Its been sitting there rotting ever since!!.

You should grab it!!..

hell ya! man we will have to try and hook up when i am there next! Marias (my wife) cusins all live out that way still so we did the local gig and tourist thing while there... her family owns a ton of the land that the theater is on (where all the water retention is her family farm!)

sure thing... summer's not that far anyway. there's plenty of really old bmw's in greece, guess they re left overs of the german occupation.

some of those scooters where dope as helll... i came back wanting a V strom so bad! Her cuz had one but i only rode it for a very short time... was when i first got there and was not used to how the locals drive!

ha ha ha that is a must! I spoke to BMW and they said i could rent a BMW1200LT at a decent price... we had a little 4 door BMW hatch back when we where there, it rocked drifing turns! feel free to hit me up wiht any questions bud

that is a solid plan! you can enve use the stock seat pan if you are lucky

Tim i would love to!!! I have to book the trip first! Mom and dad just bought their retirement condo in marco island so Maria and i are not sure when we are going to Greece... but def next year... before then mom and dad will want me down there to remodel their condo i am sure... as usual i am all over the place! ha ha ha a DTT Greece would be dope though! As soon as i find out when she is clear to go and we book our tickets ill post up... we have 3 or 4 members on here out that way and i have several buddies from HD forums from greece as well... could be a great get together... i know i would like the exp of a local to take us around... seems like very turn i made on the scooter i was on gravel... but we did find a killer little cove in little poros just cruisin down a dirt road... i think that is about the only place that i could get us too... after that i am lost... and with the way they drive out there... i would like to follow not lead that is for sure!
