Hi everyone. My name is Dan and I am the proud second owner of a 1975 CL360. Live in El Paso (not by choice). Currently stationed here. I am new to the motorcycling world and this is my first bike. The bike was ready to ride as soon as I bought it, but I am looking to enhance my mechanical skills by working on the bike. I have been reading the forums for awhile now and figured I would start participating.

best thing to start off with is to pull off your carbs and give them a good scrub as well as inspect your points.

understanding ignition and fuel delivery is 2/3rds of engines.

you have a real nice CL there. i would likely have kept my CL project if it were not for the temptation of 2 stroke.
 
Thanks for the advice. How much damage am I likely to do if i pull of the carbs and clean them, or rather what are some of the mistakes I should avoid haha? Thanks!

just take it easy. nothing on a carb should require a lot of force to remove. and dont play with any of the adjustment screws when your cleaning it.

If you really want to clean the carbs, you should fully disassemble them. That means a complete teardown. Grab one of these...

...and a gallon of Simple Green. Makes the job 1000x easier.
