Help a Newbie out. Honda Cb360.

Hey all, i am completely new new to this. I dont have my endorsement yet. So a couple of months ago, i took the dive and bought a Red 1975 Honda cb360 for 400 bucks. About 4300 miles decent conditions (a bit of rust on the battery box no biggie.) No carbs, Break lines leaked. I dont have a back-round mechanics, but i figured i could use the internet and repair manuals to learn how to fix it. So 4 months later it runs, kinda. I bought the Mikuini Vm30 set off from dime city set it all up. Starts in 1-2 kicks. (smile on my face) But it only wants to idle with the choke on at 1100 rpms, as soon as i take the choke off the engine dies. The only thing ive been playing with really is the idle screws. I really dont know much about jetting at all. It would be awesome if someone would be kind enough to give me a crash course on how to get it to run and what the issue might be.

This is the set up that came with the carbs:

Setup: 150 main jet, 3.0 slide, PO needle jet, 2.0 air, 50 pilot, and 6F4 needle

Also currently have no air filters on, the k&n filters hit the battery box. and no mufflers currently (i know that makes a difference when i get ones that fit.)

I'd sort out your intake and exhaust before you go messing with the carbs too much. The 360s are very sensitive to those things, though, admittedly, less so at idle.

Have you taken a look at your timing and compression yet? Both those will need to be OK before you make carb changes.

I havent done any of that yet. I dont have a compression tester or test light yet. Ill rent one next time i go to autozone. What psi am i looking for when i test for compression? Also thanks for the help!

Compression on a warmed up engine needs to be a bare minimum of 155 PSI. Any less than that and you need to start trouble-shooting. A freshly rebuilt engine should be reading at least 165 PSI. If (for some crazy reason) you're over 200 PSI, that's a problem, too.

Get your intake and exhaust fixed up to where you want it. Then you can work on tuning the carbs. Traditionally, carbs are the last things you mess with prior to riding.

So ive decided on 18inch trumpet mufflers and shortys velocity stacks, since theres like zero clearance for the pod filters that came with the kit. they should be here in a week.
