Help! clutch Not engaging cb125s

Hello,

I am currently restoring a 1978 CB125S and while running tests on my bench with the engine I have found that the clutch will not engage. I was wondering if anyone would have some suggestions (I preferably do not want to take the clutch apart as I don't want to deal with the different discs and what not) are there good ways to troubleshoot my clutch.

When I engage the clutch on my bench the plates dont slide in and disconnect the motor from the main drive sprocket.
