Help me formulate a plan.

DownandOut

Hello all, been a while since ive been on this forum, so bear with me.

Remotely getting interested in bikes again, but ive decided this time, if i plan to ride a geared bike, im going to do it properly.

Ive always been into cafe racers, and i started to convert my gp100 into one, but i frankly dont like the thing any more and im really not into two stroke at all, so i'll probably get it running and mot'ed and sell it to a friend whos decided he wants it.

I was doing the GP on a shoestring, which has ended up costing more in parts anyway, so i want to start fresh.

Need your help on this one though, i want to get everything straight in my head beforehand.

Ive found a video on youtube of pretty much the exact thing im wanting to do.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjiPk8cIDc4&feature=related

Its a french cafe racer listed as a CB125, but the bike in the vid is a twin and from looking at ebay, twin cb125s seem to be thin on the ground. What should i look at getting? a honda CD 125 benly perhaps? i know thats a twin. What im really after is that sound though, Ive been told those are reverse cone megaphone silencers, so i assumed thats what i'd need.

So to summarise, i want to replicate the bike in the video, i know how to go about it, and know roughly what parts i need, but need to know what bike to start with and how to achieve an engine sound close to that of the bike in the vid.

Oh and im in the UK, if that helps.

Mega kudos if you've read this far and listened to my drivel

Thanks in advance

Old model as in vid, is pretty good bike, don't remember any real issues?
Newer model Honda 125 twins(1979?) have crankshaft issues.
The redline is real high (11,500?)
Without proper warm up, the left cylinder partially seizes and starts burning oil.
If the oil level isn't checked frequently, the level drops, and the left big end fails

Isn't that the little brother to the Cb160 and later 175's and 200 twins?

Grab a cheap CB160/175/200 and have at it. Better keep the exhaust quiet though if you don't want the bike to be confiscated. That one would fail its MOT.

Ah right,

Only had that planned because i dont have a full licence, plan was to build up that bike, ride it for a bit, do my full licence after a while then swap all the bits to a cb200 or similar. But looks like its gunna be too hard to find the bike itself/wont be worth it, so thankyou all anyway!

Just find a 600 lump Yammy-restore it and be done with it.Mucho power, looks great and -and-and-well,go get one.bj
