Help me pick a battery for a CB360

So I'm trying to figure out how much battery I need for my build. I'm trying to find as small a battery as possible that will suit my needs. The electric components will be:

LED Tail light
LED Headlight
LED Turn Signals (with LED Relay)
Pamco Electronic Ignition
Gauge/Dummy Lights (likely will be upgraded to LED)
Spark Moto Regulator/Rectifier

Here's a conservative estimate of my current draw (worst case scenario when everything is on full blast):

As you can see this is about 5.3A. More than likely I'll be an around 4A as not all my dummy lights nor blinkers will be on at once.

So I'm sure it's not unreasonable to try and get away with a 6 or 7 amp battery. My concern is that I now have to worry about overcharging. Does anyone know how realistic a threat that is on a bike with a notoriously bad charging system? Are there certain types of batteries that are more forgiving about that sort of thing?

Well... you should be well protected because you have one of our R/Rs. They're specifically designed for smaller batteries (especially LI-ION variants). That said, the earthX batteries we sell also have internal circuitry to prevent over discharging as well as over charging.

Another thing to keep in mind, worst case scenario on your ignition system is more like five amps all on it's own. If both coils are energized and the engine is not running, those babies pull a lot of power.

Hey thanks.

Are you saying my ignition will draw more power than I thought? I talked to Pete who designed the ignition and he seemed pretty confident that I would be under an amp.

The coils will only be under an amp if they are switched off most of the time.
I thought the Pamco system was just trigger and electronic advance?
Anyway, I wouldn’t recommend going smaller than 7A/hr

According to the designer the lower current draw is a result of a .5v drop across a transistor and a smaller dwell angle:

Starting with a stock points system and a 5 Ohm coil, that works out to: 14V/5 Ohms = 2.8 Amps X 90 deg dwell/360 = .7 Amps X 2 coils = 1.4 Amps

PAMCO and stock 5 Ohm coils: 13.5V/5 Ohms = 2.7 Amps X 60 deg dwell/360 = .45 Amps X 2 coils = .9 Amps. I use 13.5 Volts for the PAMCO because there is a .5 Volt drop across the transistor.
