Help me to decide on what to do with my bike (POLL)

The CB500/550 line are some of the highest regarded of the SOHC Honda's. Excellent handling, nice power to weight ratio etc.
I like it a lot more than the 750, but that's just me.
That being said, I'd love a smaller bike like the 360. You should get yours fixed whether you plan on keeping it or not. You won't get anything for it with a bent front end. Call Zdeno's, Bike Yard, TO Cycle, Ontario Cycle Salvage etc. for a set of forks and front wheel to fit your bike.

man, what did people do before the internet. i posted this thread today, and everyone has pretty much solved my problems in a day!!!
i'm gonna see what they say at the shop and likely pick the best option. i think tummyson may have something for me as well.

I recently received an email from a guy who was selling his 550 because he got a 750. I asked him to give me his opinion on the two bikes. below is a sample of his email to me on the topic. I would appreciate your comments to see who agree and who have diverging opinions.

"hey man, sorry about your bike. i like the 750 a lot better. it pulls alot better. it is noticeable bigger though and not as nimble as the 550. i am not that big and can only barely touch my toes on the ground so it is a bit hard to flign it around at slow speeds but i haven't dropped it yet except when i backed it out of my garage with no front brake installed. (my driveway is sloped downwards quite a bit) it shoots right up to the speed limit with ease though so thats why i like it. it gives the passenger a nice surprise if i hit the throttle. on the other hand with the 550 that doesn't happen. i mean it will go but it won't go. so if you're looking for some power this isn't your bike. but it is pretty sylish with the low bars. i wouldn't dare put clubmans on the 750 yet i don't think i could handle walking the bike around with them. basically the 550 is something to kick around town. it can handle the highway but you'd better stay in the slow lane. the cafe seat that is currently on is ok. it's a two seater and i've taken people ok the back but it is a small seat that's probably only good for picking up chicks. i had a guy on the back and he said it was hard to hold on to the grab bar lol. anyway, the bike is ready to go and you could ride it right home but like any other 30 year old bike. it will need ongoing work. price is flexible but it doesn't matter to me if i sell it i'd save the money for school. if i don't, i'll just do soem more work on it- with the occasional ride because the 750 is so loud it wakes the neighbours. lol"

i just wish i could have caught him in the act. buy he sped off like a coward. the only thing i have is a peice of his bumper... i will use it for voodoo purposes.
looks like i'm gonna pick-up this great 550 i found for $1400.00. i just want to get out on the road and not have a bike in the shop or in the garage for a while. plus i really like the balance and the power of the 550.
I'll probalby continue to work on my 360 and likely sell it. or i just might keep it as a project bike.

hmmm, that's a tough question. i bought it for $1850. I put another $600 into it. It was really sweet before the damage with a complete tune-up, lots of new parts and clubmans.
the damage now is basically the left pipe and header, the forks, front rim and a light. the bike was still running and i rode it to the shop. i bought another 360 as a parts bike for it. so once repaired it would be completeley restored to the original shape.
i'm not sure how much work and money i need to put in at this point, maybe about $300 - $800, depending how much of the work i do myself.
well, when repaired i'd probalby list it for about $1800. It would also come with another 360 as a parts bike.
If i were to sell it as is right now, with another parts bike...i guess i would let it go for $1200.
i would like to hear any opinions you may have on price. i want to be fair, but i am really just estimating at this point. i would also accept any reasonable offer. prior the the damage the bike was absolutely sweet. clean, no rust, only has 130000 miles on it.

I know that since you now have the 550, you'll just wanna get rid of the 360. I'd personally fix it up, turn it into a cool cafe racer over the winter time, then sell it as a "turn-Key" bike next season, all done up and you could probably get $2500 for it...
Im meeting more and more people who want an already done cafe racer, who dont want/know how to make one.

yeah, i am leaning more and more in that direction. now that i have the 550 i'm in no rush to fix or sell the 360. it would be a good project to work on. knowing me, i'll probably end up keeping the bike, which might not be such a bad idea in the event one of the two needs repairs...i'll always have a back-up.
last night i went over to my the same friend's house a week to the day my bike got smashed.
i'll tell you, i had some shell shock. i didn't end up taking my new bike...i took my bicylce. i'm glad i did. if anyone has ever been on queen west after last call you'll know what i mean. if you're bike doesn't get hit by some drunken asshole, it will for sure get puked-on.
