Hello

I have been into cars all my life and honestly thought that nothing will change that. I am also a bit of a tool collector, not that I use them anymore.
They just sit in my garage and from time to time provide me with satisfaction of wiping dust from them ;o).

A few months ago I was lurking in the forums, as usuall, when I came up on a few images of Yams and things changed. I have not thought of cars since.
The bikes I saw were XS500 build as a cafe, and XS650 as a bobber. Like a "rational" human I went out and picked a pair of similar bikes. Obviously, being "rational" I picked a pair of real dogs. The XS650 looked like it was sitting in a swamp for a year or so. Engine turned and seemed to have compression, gas tank and the seat were missing.
The XS500 was in a better shape, it was a true barn find. Relatively clean but carbs were gummed up, exhaust and the battery missing. After that I decided that it was time to get a motorcycle licence ;o).

The temprature is dropping and for me it means time to start the projects. The XS500 is the first on my list cause it requires less work ;D, I am looking forward to being on this forum and sharing my work progress, I also look forward to getting some of your recommendations and trading some parts. Once the actual work gets done there will be pictures posted.

Welcome to DTT!

The XS's are great bikes. Plenty of people here working on them as well.
