Honda Cb350 Front End to CB350 Front End Conversion

I was planning on switching my 1972 honda cb350 forks with a 1968-71 fork because I like the look of the external spring. I already have to buy a new triple for the forks because mine was cracked. I think the fork size on the 68-71 forks is 33mm but it could be 35mm. Also I began to wonder if the hub from my cb350, the 72 would fit on my new 1968-1971 forks or if I should just do a full front end conversion. The rims that will be drilled are very expensive and I would prefer to not mess that up. I was planning on having Dime City drill 36 spoke Aluminum Excel rims for my current hubs. I heard someone say the C to C joint was different. Any Ideas?
 
All 350 forks are 33mm, but the earlier "external spring" forks taper sharply at the top and require the correct top clamp. The bottom is basically the same all across the board.

Cant remember the axle/lower differences (if their are any) butI think they're minimal.
 
C to C meaning center to center of the fork tubes when installed in the triple trees. It's the distance between the center or middle of the fork tubes measured at the top
 
As far as I know (memory is a bit fuzzy) the bottom trees are the same, so the width would obviously be the same. Best bet is to check part numbers over the years and see if they're the same. Looks up some parts fisches. Check the bottom tree, axle and spacer part numbers. If they match you're golden.
 
Also, if I may, skip the middle man (dcc) and just have Buchanan do your wheel. I'm pretty sure that who dcc has them sent to anyhow. That is if you go that route anyhow.
