Honda cb450 engine

Hi i am starting on my first build a Honda cb450 cafe racer. I was wondering if a 1966 black bomber engine will fit straight on to a 1971 cb450 k4 frame. Im in the uk and engines are hard to come by. any info would be great, Cheers

The mount points should all be the same. That motor however, is a bit behind the other years, they had issues with all sorts of things, like the oil pumps, the shift forks, oil leaks from weird places, and they had 4 speeds instead of 5's just to name a few.

Cheers for the info, i will wait and see if i can pick up an original 71 engine im in no rush to get one.

Well any engine from say a K1 (68) on would be a better starting place, a k7 (74) would be the last in the line and should have all the issues fixed. Only reason to go after a 71 is if you want a close numbers matching bike.
