Gidday everyone,
This is a project that's been in the planning for a few years now, beening collecting parts & finishing another bike resto before attacking this one. So here goes, got some triple clamps machined up in the states to accept a 2004 cbr600rr front forks, I also got a 03-04 cbr600rr swingarm for it yrs ago but as it turns out those models swung off the engine as well as frame pivot points & it turns out was to wide for what I had in mind so after a bit of research I got a 09 cbr600rr swingarm which is to wide as well. Had a moment @ 2am on how to sort it out. I lathed up a boss to fit into the old swingarm pivot points as a guide & whole sawed 2 new pivot points. Then turned up a couple of bosses to slide in, had to turn down the swingarm inner bearings length ways to narrow the width & turn up some bosses to slide inside these so I could still use the original swingarm bolt.

Got the front end on now & attacked the rear yesterday, ground off all brkts not required, had to turn up only 1 spacer on the brake side & its all done. Got to work out now how to mount the new suspension brkt to fit to the old mains stand support.

Are you raising the ride height up from where it sits now? It looks a bit low. Any idea on final rake/trail figures?

Later, Doug

Gidday Doug, your right, it's too low as is, I had only just fitted the swingarm in & have started bracing the frame. When that's all done I will set a ride height & sort out the suspension geometry from a old frame & swingarm I will use as a setup

Brought this tube notcher a while back, makes a huge difference. I used to just use a grinder & file. Would of liked something like this when I built the CALSCO985. I've attached some pictures of it.

Well a few more parts have turned up & a bit more time spent on it. Got a complete motogadget system, m unit,mo button, indicators, mirrors etc, going to make this a keyless bike. Speedometer arrived which is a Koso GP, headlight brkts & headlight came from Australia, just waiting on Brembo 19RCS Corta radial front master cylinder & a Brembo 17 RCS clutch cylinder to arrive. Have decided to get rid of the old cable clutch & go hydraulic. A couple of yrs ago through a chance meeting with a bike i sold the guy had brought a complete set of tin ware in 1980 in case he ever needed it,which as it turns out he didn't. I managed to buy off him a brand new tank, side covers, duck tail, front guard & the seat, all of this is still in the Honda factory packaging. Never seen the light of day. That's the body work taken care of, even the lovely factory paint.
I made up some engine bracing for the front to stiffen it up but it had to still be removerable to get the motor in & out. Someone in Aussie had done this so I just did something similar.

Well this thing is pretty much finished, just got to strip it down & send parts off to the sand blasters & powder coaters. Going to get some nut/bolts replaced & titanium for the rest. Will add some pictures when complete
