How are these shocks?

Been Around the Block
I have an 86 xv700 around 500lbs and want some piggyback shocks. I found these on a http://www.mikesxs.net/product/06-3721.html and was wondering what weight they were for and if anybody else has used them. They really don't give any info on them.
Im wondering if they will work other than seeing if the eyelets match up. Thanks

Your best bet is to email Mikes. If they're sold as a replacement for the XS650 units they should work fine as that is a heavy machinein stock trim. Around 500lb I believe.

All those cheap piggy back shocks scare me.
Those eBay ones were fine at $30 a set, but at $150? Pass.

Have you looked into Hagon?
Quality product at reasonable rate.

But if you have your heart set on the piggyback look then I'm not sure what would come up in that price range that actually works

Used ones. That's about it, and you'll still have to add $50+ to the price...

I don't know the size or orientation of a vx, but marzochi shocks come up from time to time sub $200.

Try finding something rebuildable.

Thanks for yalls info and I was really thinking the same thing and just wanted a second or many opinions I could get. Yeah my heart is set on piggybacks but I also know its going to be hard to find them for $350 or less.

What about these?

They're for a 700lb bike, but should work. Just be stiff. That said, you could just replace the springs...

They sold already. My stock shocks are I think 11.5" and I was going to try 12.5" but my bike is a shafty. Ill look for some kawi 1200.

If you mean Kawasaki ZRX 1200R shocks? The ZRX shocks are rebuild-able and work well with quality internal components. They are however 14.25" free length. I had a set revalved and sprung for my Honda CX500 and they are very nice.
Cheers, 50gary
