how do I get that clean Cafe look?

so I'm on my first cafe build, I have a 76 CB360. I got k&n filters on my carbs, and I relocated my battery in my cowl, but I don't think it's a great idea for it to be bouncing around in there. now I have a couple wires hanging in the middle, and I just want it totally cleared out. what else can I do?

Seek out as many pictures of cafe racers and see how they did it. There are also lithium ion batteries that weigh only a pound at most (not cheap, but worth it) that are also no maintenance in which you get with gel and wet batteries, and you can mount in any position you can think of. Show some pics and lets get ya going.

I agree - it's not a good idea to have a battery "bouncing" around inside your tail. Get a box welded in there and secure it for one, then get some electrical tape and tape up the wires, then zip tie them to the frame tubes.

And pics would help a lot.

well here are some pictures

any suggestions?

you could use ties off some of the newer dirt bikes . there lil nicer and thicker then most zip ties and have that stock look !

A good clean would be a great place to start. Seriously, and I don't mean to be disrespectful, but to me a cafe bike is one that clearly is built and owned by someone with a sense of purpose and a real love and pride in their bike.

Then replace those car battery leads with something more suitable - that's overkill plus. Find a way to fabricate a box to mount that battery and line it with rubber to insulate it from vibration and road shock.

Get the main harness up to the top tubes and secure it with zip ties or the wide cable ties that manufacturers used.

Those carbs are unfortunately a PIA to jet properly with pod filters. Contact PJ and see if he'll sell you a set or air corrector jets.

I just got this bike not too long ago, and it's still "under construction" and I don't feel like actually cleaning it up until I get it running good, then the bike will be stripped down painted and put back together with some TLC, trust me. I just wanna know what everyone else does with their solenoid, and their battery and the wires hanging in the middle. I plan on getting the antigravity battery when I build the bike back up and make a nice tight box for that thing, even though it says it's pretty rattle proof. and do some people even run a battery? on some bikes I see it looks as though there is no wiring at all, either that or they're crazy good at hiding it. thanks for the input though, I'll have to see about those air corrector jets though.

You'll know you're done when there's nothing left you can take away. A clean café bike is all about minimalism.

Just looking at the one pic, I'm think you could get rid of the rear fender and passenger pegs. Like teazer said, you could definitely do with washing it and the zip ties for the wires are a great idea as well.
