How do I get this off?

How do I get the side cover off. It's the right side with the kick starter and points ignition. I removed all the screws around the case and removed the points plate. Behind the points plate is a star looking thing that is attached to the crank shaft. I believe that this has to do with the timing. The cover has separated but is there a special tool to remove this?

should be either nut or 6mm Allen head bolt holding it on

I took the nut off so does it just slide off the shaft?

Underneath the rust, is there an allen head cut into the end of that shaft (as pj said)? Otherwise it looks like it should just slide right off.
