I need CB450 PISTONS!

I need to rebuild my 1970 CB450. Compression check reads 90 psi on the left cylinder and 100 psi on the right cylinder. I might just try replacing the rings with standard size replacements as a cheap way to get back on the road before winter hits and then do a proper rebuild when its too cold to ride. Ebay is the only place where I can find rings, and every once in while i can find nos pistons on there but they're way to expensive. Wiseco is the only other place were i can find pistons but they want $180 a piece! This is a badass show quality cafe racer that i've spent all year building and i just want to be able to show it off at work before the riding season is over.

I'm seeing a couple of sets of CB450 pistons on eBay right now for under $100. How cheap were you thinking they'd be?

I would think a "badass show bike" deserves the few hundred dollars it will take to actually function as a motorcycle

But can't afford a set of pistons and is only now discovering that it won't run. There's a bit of a credibility gap there. And no photos or other details. FAIL.

This was not a running bike when the pictures were taken
The bike was latter used in some lifestyle video, people pushed it around for the shots
No idea if it ever actually ran, although running would not really help it function much as a motorcycle anyway

Is that the same bike ? I thought that one was in Australia IIRC. Maybe not. I just love the self adulation/promotion in the post. No false modesty there. Don't get me wrong. People should be proud of their work but the whole tone of that post just left a stale taste.

Honestly I dont remember where that bike was built.
Its about two years ago IIRC.

To me it was the best example of an art project.
Tone of attention to detail. Lots of money spent, but zero thought that had to do with motorcycles

Looks are always subjective so you either like the style or you dont. Personally its a great looking thing.
Relatively simple in its execution, I just wish it was a motorcycle

I'd go with the wiseco ones. They're real purdy. I bought a set of 67.5mm with deep valve pockets for my cb350. Pretty awesome. I picked up teflon wrist pin caps too.

I didn't realize that wiseco was making pistons for the 450k's. I think I will be saving my pennies for set now.

Wiseco will make pistons for anything on the planet
If they already have the patter then its a little cheaper. If they dont, they will make them anyway but it takes more time and there is a min order, I think 4 pistons but might be 8

Not to mention they already have the pattern for them. That's what the Hanson Hondas run in the 450 and 500t race bikes.
