Info on a 1975 GT500 2-stroke twin?

I see a lot of guys putting expansion chambers on the old triples.

Would they make this bike faster as well? (i'm guessing a 2stroke is a 2stroke)

Expansion chambers will make a big difference. The stock exhaust system was made primarily to look nice - not performance. I have a 1971 T500R and it pulls like crazy from around 7000 rpm. And it's basically stock. It's fast, light, handles well.. a lot of fun!

I love two strokes and think you should buy it. I agree with the others about the expansion chambers, but even with the stock exhaust, the 2 stroke power will light a smile on your face.

Have you ever seen retaRD's bike? Not a suzuki but one of the coolest 2-strokes I've seen.

The addition of chambers is a great idea! There are pipes from that 70's era and there are modern pipes too.The old ones tend to be "skinny" pipes and the more modern designs are "fat" pipes. Fat pipes will really turn your bike on! I've got a set of Wirges skinny pipes on my H2 but a set of fat pipes on order and can't wait to hear them howl!!

Oh ya, if you still have the original pipes and they're in decent shape, be sure to hang on to them. Don't just chuck 'em out or give them away! They'll be worth some $$ to a collector! ;D

I've been riding Kawi Triples for years and they are a "special" kinda fun! What really makes it special is the fact that 2 stroke street bikes are becoming more unique with the passing of every year. Whether you have a Suzook, Yammie or Kawi, you'll have a special machine that'll bring a smile to your face every time you fire it up! 8) 8)

Thanks for the help guys. Parts have been ordered and are on the way.

I've been slobbering over the bikes at usa2stroke. I've definitely caught the bug.

Question: before we tear this bike down, we want to get it running first. Is it ok to fire it with a couple squirts of starting fuild or is that bad for business in the 2 stroke world?
