insight on WERA rules

I am building a 350f to go into the vintage events for the WERA and I understand everything but what I can/can't do wiyth the engine. I'm thinking of entering the Formula 2 Up to 600cc 4-stroke air-cooled multis. My question is, is it whatever you can throw in the motor (stroker) to compete with other bikes that could be of bigger displacement? Meaning, would it be beneficial to buy a 400f motor and slap a 466cc kit in it? Is there anyone racing on the site that could shed some light on it for a no0b?

id think youd have a hard time keeping a 350F up against the other formula 2 bikes...

heck, i cant imagine a 350F with any amount of mods coming CLOSE to a 550 with nothing more then pipes and intake.


i think best thing to do would be to contact someone who races wera... Caferacer.net has a LOT of racers.

if you ask nicely, like you did here, you wont get shot down. its only the posts that are like

"hey guyz i wantz to race can you help me? i have cb350, the one with four cylinders, will i win? please help yes."!

you could be fairly competitive with a well built 350F if you race the 350GP class. thing is, the 350 twins are wayyy cheaper to build, and make more power and are lighter then the 350F.

not that the 350F is a worse motor, just hasnt been developed for racing as much, though in reality they have a LOTTT more potential then the 350 twin if they had the same amount of attention as the twin..

id say if its not mentioned anywhere in the rulebook, its legal, and if someone calls you out on it, then ask them WHERE in the rulebook it says you cant.

Careful with that one. With sled racing up here, if its not in the rule you CAN'T do it. Only if it says your permitted can you make what ever modifications.

my concern was, that you have to pay before you get inspected. and if its illegal, you lose out on money. And my wife would shot me in the head....

The guys on the WERA board are pretty laid back and there's always some newb on there asking about some obscure combination. Most of them are just happy to get more bikes on the grid. So go ask the people that actually know, ain't many racers here.

My take, you're doing it backwards; pick a class then pick a bike. I think your 350f's a waste of time and money.

The other thing you need to consider is that you can buy a used racebike for much less than what it'll take to get yours ready.

It is ALWAYS cheaper to buy then build. Try reselling something you just bought brand new for the same price you paid for it. Now try to get some labor $$$ out of it.

You will save time, money and have more fun racing off the hop. Now if you are racing and slowly building your own bike... That's like killing two birds with one stone.
