I have been motorcycling since 1958 and have had a succession of bikes starting with a 1956 NSU 250. I rode mostly British Bikes later. My last two bikes were a Kawasaki EX250R (2008). I currently ride a Honda NT700V (2010)

I am in the process of acquiring a 1976 Honda CB550 in running condition along with a parts bike. The plan is to build a Cafe Racer similar in looks to a 60's Norton.

I live in Belfast, Maine, am a retired Psychiatric Social Worker, and am 70 years old.

Well its great to have you here! Would love to see some pics of those great bikes you had in the past! Make sure to start a thread for your Honda build.

Welcome. CB550 is a nice basis for a custom bike. Please post pics and start a build thread and if you have any pics from back in the day, that would be way cool to see them.

Unfortunately I have no pictures of my past bikes. My wife and I moved aboard our sailboat in 1991 and lived on it, cruising the East Coast and the Caribbean for 14 years. During that time we stored our stuff in our in-law's basement--which flooded one spring. The photo albums and boxes of slides turned to mush.

We now live in a house with a dry basement and a heated shop in a 30'x 30' garage. I have a bicycle shop in the garage and I service and build from custom frames some moderately fast road racers. The CB550 will be my first Cafe build.

I have a Touring bike- Honda NT-700 which I really enjoy. The 550 will be a project for a while. I take my time and do it right. I have been retired since 1991.
