Looking into K&N filters for the CB400F and ran across these in silver mesh, is this a genuine part as I cannot find it on the K&N website?

Never seen them in chrome. Although seems like quite the markup for some chrome colored mesh. You can get the red ones for like 75 bucks from amazon

Yeah I think the price is a bit steep.

Also I'm not sure I can even fit them in to the frame as they will hit the shock mount. What do you think?

Difficult to tell from the picture but it looks like it will fit If the shock is directly between carbs 2&3? (Filter on either side)?

Maybe this will help, just took about the same shot on mine with the k&ns mounted up (you can see they have to be bent a little stock to clear the frame)

Thanks Sonic, no chance of them fitting in there as is.

I might redo the top mount for the shock a little higher to get as much clearance as possible. Worst case I go with stacks instead.

RU is for the black rubber backing, RC is the chrome back plate.
When you know the number you can get either

Are you talking the end plate PJ? The listing on eBay had silver mesh as opposed to the normal red. Apologies if you are talking mesh.

I redid the mount to lift the shock. No ill effects at all and managed to redo the support arm a little better too. Hopefully the extra room gives me enough to squeeze some filters in there.

Yep, RC is chrome end cap.
I've never seen K&N with red mesh, the oil they use is red so maybe it's just stuck to the stainless steel?

I've never seen a k&n that's not red until neevo posted those....

Seriously I'm thoroughly confused.
Google k&n and every single image is red......

Are you talking about the mesh or the end cap? Because I just did, and I don't see a single red-capped filter.

Red cotton black or chrome end caps and plain ol grey mesh, the red is the oil in the cotton, like ATF, sometimes when you first buy em the cotton is white and you have to put the oil on em to make em red.

Cheers

And nice work Neevo it's getting there.

I'm talking about the mesh, I guess it is in fact the filter element and not the mesh but that's what I was talking about, as that's the thing that's different about the ones neevo posted

Although now that I look again its pretty obvious that they are white and have yet to be oiled doh (there's even pictures of the pretty little oil pouches hahah)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! That makes sense.

So essentially they are charging 2x as much for the same shit. Crazy!
