Ya... Noel... ?? Mods. Rockers. I think it's just Noel being Noel! ;D

Thanks Ryan! Ya, I don't know what it is and I really don't care what you call it! I just hope it works!! ;D

I'm using clip ons, rear sets, small gauges and custom exhaust kinda like a Cafe, but I understand the suspension mods alone will convince some it's a 'Fighter. I think of it as a Modern Cafe, if there is such a thing! ;) :o

Re: Kawasaki H2 Cafe *Revised Nov.24/08*

;D STAY TUNE....... "DREWSKI" I am attempting to do the same thing to my cb550. "THE SWING ARM + UNISHOCK."

SWEET!! ;D ;D

What 'donor bike' are you using? Have you started a Project thread? Can't wait to see what you do with it!! ;D ;D

Re: Kawasaki H2 Cafe *Revised Nov.24/08*

SNAP! Man, this thing looks great...if its one thing a H1 wouldn't mind its uprated rear suspension ;D

This thing is looking badass. I have to admit, I've always liked two-strokes...the way you've got to baby them for the first few minutes until they warm up, the smoke, the oil...the way they hit 6k and go zzzziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnggg!

Anyway, looking good, can't wait to see more - boingk

Ha, ha! Ya they do have a, "ragged, bad citizen" kinda personality don't they! ;) ;D I confess that's part of the attraction to me too!

I'll get more up here as soon as I get more time to work on this thing! 8)

Drewski - that looks fantastic!

I do have a question, though.

In the pic above it looks like the brackets you have made for the rear shock might act like a fulcrum against the rear engine mount on the frame (the 2nd bolt in the pic). Have you braced this area of the frame at all? I'd be a little concerned this may bend / break over time.

Other than that, love your work ;)

Thanks for your interest and encouragement Hillsy! ;D

I think I get what you mean. I don't believe there's much to worry about! It's pretty solid back there. If I was using a solid strut in place of the shock and spring, sure, but with the action of the shock and spring there's really not THAT much force on the frame or the bracket. We've done this before on other road race bikes and had no issues! I trust that trend will continue! ;) ;D You never really know until you try it though! ;D I'll keep you all in the loop!

Worse case is that we laugh at you when it falls to bits.... then pick you up :)

Good luck buddy.

Re: Kawasaki H2/FZ Cafe Back from the Dead?!

Wow! This thing drifted all the way back to Page 9!!! Has it really been that long??

Yup.

Well, I decide to blow the dust off it and get back at it. :P

We mocked up a set of chambers out of cardboard for it. They look really good! The pieces are now cut out of steel and winging there way to the welder for assembly.

I'll post some pics shortly! :D

I REALLY like the 'baby blue'!! :D :D They'll be a natural steel finish. 8)

I'm liking like the short ,stubby look of the pipes! The stingers and silencers have to be added, but you get the idea.

They fit tight to the engine and frame yielding terrific ground clearance. The side stand has to be moved forward and the centre stand is "long gone" of course!! :o 8)

Re: Kawasaki H2/FZ Cafe Back from the Dead?!

That--my friend--is impressive! I've built exhaust from scratch before and the spatial ability required to do a basic exhaust, much less chambers (and three!), is increadible.

So are you just making them out of mild steel? Did you ahve a sheetmetal guy roll the cones or did you do that yourself?

Ya, it's quite a job to fab these things up! I wish I had the skills to do it myself! ;D We have a group of Kawi Triple guys here in our area and 2 of them decided to join their skills together to create some chambers for the guys. One is a computer design guy and the other is a metal fab/welder. The results have been encouraging so far!! They've created around 6 sets of pipes for 400, 500 and now 750 Triples. The "seat of the pants dyno" tells us we're on the right track! :D We're gonna get some real dyno time this spring so we'll have some actual #'s!!

Our sheetmetal guy just cuts out the steel and sends the bits to the welder. He rolls them, fits and welds the whole shebang on the bike.

I do know a young fella who made up his own set for his project this past winter. He's very talented. He said afterward that he wouldn't do it again!! Too much! :D

Here's his machine!

It's a 500 in a 250 frame, with Yamaha suspension bits.

Can't wait to get mine! ;D It'll be fun!

Thanks for your interest! I know you do "wicked" work Chris! 8) 8) You could handle a job like this!

Re: Kawasaki H2/FZ Cafe Back from the Dead?!
