Been Around the Block
My first street bike, a Kawasaki KZ440, I had a few dirt bikes and decided to turn this cruiser into a cafe racer as I've adored them since I was little.


Currently trying to figure out how to make my seat.. Thinking I'm going to take an old motorcycle helmet and cut it a bit along with the stock seat and see how that works out.


I'm from Oklahoma and this will be the only local cafe racer I know of in my area.
 
Welcome to the board dude. I'm from Gulf Shores, Al and I've got the only cafe racer on the road in town. There's a guy who works at the local bike shop who has one but he lives like an hour away and I've never seen his bike on the road. It's cool to be the only one with this kind of bike though. You get lots of looks and weird questions like "How'd you bob that there fender?" and "What kind of Harley is that?" Go look through the Tank and Seat section to get some more ideas for how to make your seat. Good Luck dude, and I hope to see ya around.
 
Hey, Saki. Welcome to DTT. Where in Oklahoma are you? There are a few other Okies on here (Tulsa, OKC, Norman, Moore, Broken Arrow). I'm in Norman and there are several other guys locally working on cafe or bobber projects.
Be sure and post some pics using photobucket. In our bunch we have Yamaha, Honda, and Triumph represented. I want to see that Kaw!

I'm in the Texoma area, already have quite a few plans for the build just for now gathering some parts.


Here is a picture, its nothing fancy but for 500 bucks I don't think I could have scored much nicer as it runs and I can ride it. lol

Haven't quite got it to do the ton yet lol but I've got plans for a full rebuild with some overbore pistons in mind.


Only problem with the bike is the frame, its not flat so I'll have to either cut the frame or make a seat that fits the bend in it. That and it could use a rebuild.

I've lurked on DTT in the past, never joined cause didnt think of owning a bike.. lol (riding around here is dangerous due to stupid drivers in big SUV's) this bike lead me to join and kinda right now is what I at least hope to achieve http://dotheton.com/index.php?topic=11437.0 But I've drooled over a lot of the projects listed here as I've liked the bobbers/cafe racer import bikes since I was a lil kid. lol I didn't look at the bike mags for the boobs, I looked at them for the motorcycles LOL
