Hello all, first post, so be gentle...

i have a 73 cb450, and after cleaning the carbs and rebuilding i go to reinstall and drop one... awesome... this bent the shaft that holds the main butterfly and now the throttle wont snap close, thus causing a safety issue, i've got it as correct as i can and it still doesn't snap shut, bummer..

I was stoked to see if this corrected my power /reving problem, but boo, so now to ask, anyway to get that shaft without getting a whole carb?

Last question, if I have to get carbs, any suggestions about what to go to? or how to even identify the carbs i currently have?

thanks guys!

Personally I would be concerned that if it fell hard enough to bend the shaft the bushing and body of the carb may be damaged. I would try to find another carb or carbs.

thank you.. is there any carbs that are considered "better" or an upgrade? since i probably will replace anyway, and yes i agree, it landed right on the throttle cable side and bent that so it wouldn't snap shut, then i tried to "massage" it back, and it failed...

Did you try loosening the screws that hold the plate on SLIGHTLY and seeing if the thing will center and then snap shut? If it does tighten the screws and see how it acts. There is a little bit of wiggle room under the plate.

MODEL numbers are on small rectangular boss under and to the right of the inlet side of the carb. May be a 2 digit number with letter or a 3 digit number with a letter. Later model 700 series carbs are supposed to be the best but any are fine. Actually best are from 500t's since they have accelerator pumps but that is neither here nor there.

yep, tried that! turns out it's a 723b, anyone know if a 723a shaft will work? there is a guy selling on for pretty cheap, might be worth it to give it a shot.

went ahead and ordered, didn't want to risk it! hopefully it'll clear it up and i can get it to go above 6k...
