KZ400 Fork Swap (Scrambler)

The forks on my 79 KZ400 are pretty much shot. New springs are $80-100. So I figured if I'm going to fix it up, I should probably look into making it better.

My bike is currently set up as a scrambler. So I'd like something I can take off road. Wondering if I should actually look into dirt bike suspension.

Do you guys have any opinions?

Front forks would likely be trivial. Finding a dirtbike front end with appropriate dimensions shouldn't be too difficult. I think your main issue is going to be rear wheel travel.

The shocks on the KZ400 aren't at much of an angle and adding height will only make that worse. If you were able to reposition your shocks (either on a new swingarm or a new location on the frame) to increase that angle you should be able to get some travel.
