KZ900 tach drive leak

Been working on my brother's KZ900 while visiting my hometown for the holidays. He's not particularly mechanically inclined, and I am particularly Honda inclined. So, here's my question. He's got an oil leak from the tach drive. I don't have a manual, but I looked up tach drives on Ebay and found some complete tach drive gears for sale. It looks like there is a simply o-ring holding in the oil, but it also looks like to change it you pull out the drive gear. Correct? Here is the Ebay auction I am looking at for reference:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/TACHOMETER-DRIVE-GEAR-1974-KAWASAKI-Z1-SUPER-4-JAFFA-74-Z1900-KZ900-/380471017480?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5895d70008&vxp=mtr

So, back out the bolt holding the gear at the plate, and pull and twist the whole thing out?

Just to save us some time, not looking for answers of the "should work in theory" variety, but rather those who know.

And while I'm on the subject, his tach is shot and he wants to replace it. Saw a few tachs for sale, but anyone make an aftermarket (that looks stock) that is reasonably priced? Will other KZ tachs from the same year work?

Thanks in advance, Happy New Year all.

They sell a kit with a seal, just bought one for my 1000.
It is a real seal not an o ring.
It probably goes inside the threaded end. 8)
I also bought extra seals, so you can purchase them desperate if you want.
As for the tach try one for a KZ650, higher red line markings is the only difference.

Not yet.
Been busy and to cold to ride now to worry about it.
It's easy ,unscrew the cable, pull bolt/screw ,twist out.
Gear pulls out and your totally disassembled.
