Let's get this dream started.

BIGTATER23

Here to learn. Let's do this.
I have always wanted to build a custom motorcycle. since I was a little kid. Now that I am grown, have a job and most of the skills needed to do this, I am going to give it a shot. I recently attained a 1981 CB750 Custom for free (thank god for grandparents). It was sitting in a back yard for many years under a small lean-to type building. Its in rough shape, but i can't complain for free right? I am in no big hurry, I want to learn, do it right, and soak in the whole experience. I want to build a cafe racer to be proud of. I hope that I can learn a lot from these forums to help me along the way. The first day we picked it up, we tore it all the way down to the frame and got rid of parts that were unnecessary or completely rotted to the point that they were unusable. First thing to do will be to rebuild the carbs as the ones that were on it were bad (according to the previous owner) and I was given another set, but they sat outside in a trash bag for years, so i think the best idea would be to start there. Then we will rebuild the engine. Well, at least the top end. I was told it ran fine before it was parked, but I really want the experience and to learn all i can. After that, we shall see where we stand, and hopefully move on to fabrication/modifying the frame how i want it.
