I am working on a bike that was crashed. The forks don't look to be bent but the lower tree is definitely not in alignment with the top. Is that even possible? Can the upper and lower be adjusted or aligned? Or am I seeing things and need to replace the whole fork set up.

Well I stripped it all down today and yes it can be adjusted looks like all is well and no more money spent.

Yup,
you just have to loosen the bolts on the triples and turn the forks.

If the fork clamps were still tight on the tubes and the trees were still misaligned, you should be going over EVERYTHING with a fine toothed comb...
