Modern Front End Swap Speedos

Been Around the Block
So obviously I can't use the stock speedo setup on my CB750 K1 with the 04 R6 front end swap I am doing. So I have seen a few options for a speedo such as the mountain bike speedo and the like.

What I wanna see is what you guys with modern front end swaps are doing for a speedo.

Thanks in advance

Most people use magnet pick-ups (like Acewell, Veypor, bike speedos).

Good thing about them is you can mount them on the rear wheel so the front end stays clean looking. And they are programmable for any wheel / tyre size.

Yeah thats what I have seen as well. I guess thats what I will have to go with is something of that variety. I was hoping I could find a way to still run it to an analog style guage though to keep the look I want but digital it will have to be.

How does this impact odometer readings? Isn't this a problem for registration/inspection depending on your state?

I know in my state (Ohio) no inspections are done when titles get transferred pending it's being sold in the same state. We only have inspections when bringing an out of state vehicle in.

As for acquiring a brand new gauge, I'm assuming you could adjust the ODO to read the same as your old on? Or just ignore it altogether and mark on the title that there's an odometer discrepancy.

Mounting R6 wheels on my 85 FJ as we speak . Are you dead set on running 04 wheels which are the 5 spoke ? If not and don't mind the 3 spoke ones earlier R6 ( YZF) or R1 ( YZF ) think it 98-03 or 02 still have a speedo drive from the wheel ! Might want to look into it ;)

Actually I am planning on running the stock CB750 spoke wheels so I am still stuck with no speedo that's good info to know though in case I decide to switch wheels out or for future projects :)

Pretty sure the R6's and R1's used a front sprocket sensor for the speedo.

I know for SURE the early GSXR USD fronts had a speedo drive on the wheel (91-95?)
