I was finally able to get ahold of a stock XS650, and was able to come up with a pretty decent rearset kit for it.

Finally a non-Honda vintage kit!

Just be aware that the 71/72 frames have different footpeg mounting stud placements and the brackets won't fit (I went through that when using an Omar's mounting plate kit on a 1972 frame - had to make my own mounting plates).

You are correct, XS650 has 3 different model with slightly different frame in term of rear set mounting issue.
