Motogpwerks exhaust

Coast to Coast
Putting the motogpwerks exhaust on my cb750. Do I still use copper crush gaskets, or any gaskets at all with this system? I imagine I need gaskets were the headers meet the head but the copper crush ones I have don't allow the flanges to meet the head. It's creating too much distance. Please help looking to get these on tomorrow

This system?

If yes, I have Titanium header bolts and Ti no seize for it...

Yes that same exact set up. Are you using the crush gaskets? Any links for whatever you are using?

Those flange "screws" are way to short for any header with spigots. you have to get studs or bolts, I use these: bolts and can sell you a set but they are Titanium M8x35 and expensive.

How much for the set of 8? Also are your flanges sitting flush against the head if your using the crush gasket? Mine will sit against the head with no issues if I don't use the gasket but if the crush gasket is in there even if I tighten everything as much as I can they still won't sit up against the head.

I made my own pipes but the spigots are close to the same and the flanges are not supposed to sit sight like the factory spigots, those were clamp on not bolt in. can you slide the spigots off and bolt them all on separate? then insert the header and add the spring retainers? if yes you need to do just that, bolt all the spigots on loose then fasten the header with springs then torque the bolts to 14ftlbs.

Bolts are $40 for 8 shipped $50 next day air. or you can go to the bike shop or supply and just get 8x32mm flanged bolts.

Don't quote this post so I can delete the image later.

Or you can get 8mm studs and use bolts with washers, I have those also for $20 shipped, but eBay is cheaper where I get them.

Sounds good, thanks for the advice, going to check a few shops tomorrow see if they have them in before I offer offline, want to get this mounted before my upcoming days off so I can bring this bike to the shop and have them do some things I need done

you definitely need to use a crush gasket. the one benefit to using studs and nuts over bolts is less chance of stripping and if you strip the stud it can be replaced. The flanges are not met to make direct contact with the head as the aluminum will expand more than the steel and push the spigot out enough to cause an exhaust leak. I have a moto gp werks system on my bike and there is about a 1/4" gap.

for sure the studs are way more forgiving over time, but can be a pain in the ass depending on pipe choices and frame clearance, some just wont allow the flange on without scratching the shart out of the frame so put tape on the frame beforehand.

The Ti stuff is just fluff in this application. If I was back a few steps, I would of drilled and tapped in timeserts on the head to have not necessarily a stronger thread but defiantly a more durable set of exhaust threads.
