Mounting a new seat

Been Around the Block
Hey all,

I am thinking of getting a cafe seat from cafe race or roc city to put on my bike. I am wondering if I can take a spare stock Seat Pan (basically the stock seat minus the padding so it is just the metal plate and the spring loaded rod that secures it to the frame), mount the seat on there with some bolts, and move onto upholstery. Any opinions?

Im pretty sure that youre cafe seat will appear to float above the frame giving an awkward visual effect and breaking the flow of the bike. You can try it, but I think most people who use the stock pan build a custom seat on top of it, instead of tacking on an aftermarket seat.

Yeah, I should have looked around a bit before posting, I have been following Loco Leon's sticky and I think I will shoot for that instead.
