Mounting exhaust

Any suggestions for mounting the exhaust? I was thinking of a plate/strap to the foot rest bracket.

My other option is to ditch the megaphone and get a short can. I thought I recall someone here selling them or on another board.

You could try putting a bracket around one of the chainstays and connecting the exhaust to that. Attaching it to the foot bracket would require a long metal plate.

Is it acceptable to mount to the swing arm? I was assuming any movement could cause unwanted stress and possibly break/crack the header.

You could cut off the bracket on the muffler and reweld it further forward about where the header pipes go in and bolt it to the engine mounting stud that is shown in the pic. The one that is underneath the rearset pegs.

The top shock mount is fairly common. Just a strap, speed holes optional.

haha wow, you're right. I have a hardtail with that setup and I typed that out before thinking too hard. I would go relocate the mount on the exhaust as Glenn said.
