muffler help

My friend and I are building a custom exhaust for my 750K, we've got all the piping and made a mock up and we're getting ready to start welding it all up but I still don't know what I want to do about mufflers. Making some would be challenging with the resources available, so the next option is to buy, which I don't mind except that the mufflers I've looked at that fit the bill don't fit the budget. Any suggestions? I almost want to just run straight pipes but I did that on my last bike and it sounded good but it was LOUD and got old after while riding it daily (especially starting it at 4 am to go to work). So I definitely want to run mufflers and I'm trying to keep the budget down to around $150 for both pipes (building a 4-2 system), dime city has several mufflers that I like in that price range but the reviews say they're pretty loud and the quiet-core mufflers run around $130 per muffler. Is that about the going rate for my needs? Any place else I should be looking? Anyone on here make mufflers?

have you considered just putting baffles in the straight pipe? or the reverse cones megaphones from emgo are like $65 a piece and are quieter than straight pipes...

Look up Cone engineering. They sell raw mufflers (that are well made) a lot cheaper than the big box cafe sites.

I ran a custom build starting with a Magnaflow 2 1/2 in 2 1/2 out straight through. Then installed a baffle.. not loud at all on my 850.

Ended up grabbing a set of shortys mufflers from Dime City, they're perfect. Sounds awesome, not at all loud like the reviews suggest and I love how they look on the bike. Very pleased with how it came out
