my 73 tx 650

cool... i have a 74 xs500 would like a tx750 though, dont think they came toi the uk though

For whatever reason I remember reading that the old TX750 engines would self destruct after a while, especially if ridden hard. Something about the oil frothing up because of the way things were designed and air would get into the oil pasages and POOF!!! Done like dinner. It's one of the reasons they're so rare.

The crankshaft counter balancers foamed up the oil in the case when motor was reved high. That resulted in poor oil circulation to the top end causing major problems.

it's always good to see the tx crowd represented. how about a new tx thread.
here are a few closer shots. I am still working on her. never really done, but always fun

Ahh... perhaps it would not be a good idea then, ;D

;) thanks for the thought, i like big.... cc... that is. ;D

Never saw or even heard of a TX before. Did the fenders come painted like that?

I'd really like to see your bike, but when I click on the picture- the front half disappears.
Very frustrating.

The reason for that is that the picture is wider than the forum width so if you look at the bottom of the pic there should be a slide bar that you can move that will allow you to view the rest of of it. Hope this helps.

Yeah- but on MY screen, that only moves it from the front of the jug to the header.

Well- is that the stock tank, and what is that decal?

hope you can figure out the picture I can post one of just the front end. in the shot I have there I don't have the rear fender strut on it.
As to the painted fender no they come stock front and rear chrome. I got mine for $12 off fleebay and the chrome was shot. I just bead blasted and had them painted. I like the look better than the chrome. I had originally had the front fender struts painted as well. but the guy lost them so I had to sourch another set and they were chrome so they stay.
tx designation was used by yamaha in the early 70's for quite a few bikes.

cheers

tank is off 74 honda cb500t modify the mounts tunnel fits perfect. the decal is from cb750cafe. steve carpenters honda website. I liked it and thought the tank needed something. so cafe racer is what it got.

I bought a complete TX750 here in Seattle for $450.00. Not running. I thought it would be a great start to a cafe bike until I read about the counter balance issue. It scared me..... boy did it scare me. I parted with it as a partial trade toward my Honda 750. Cool bikes but more than I wanted to get involved with. Benji at BCR has a really nice TX750 that he has built.

everybody finds there comfort level. you start whith what you hink you can handle. my first ride was an 80cc. then I bumped up on my own doing. Guess that's why I am british.
I have always thought that there system was more along a safe line to take. start small and earn your way up.
there are to many kids buying hyabusa's and really hurting them selves and others.

that's my 2 cents and with taxes I owe you something.

cheers

I actually probably started on too much bike by a lot of people's opinions but hey I was 35 when I started. lol Here in the states we offer the MSF rider's course and I recommend it for anyone wanting to ride. If I hadn't had the instruction on the 200 in the class I definitely would've had some sort of issue while riding my FZ6. :)

yes the riding course is good and bad. I like the ability to be able to go and get experience in a safe enviroment but in Connecticut it counts as the driving portion of your test. so if you are a fast learner you can take the written take the course useing there bike and get you mototrcycle licence without having to own a bike. I might be a few midgets short of a fellini flick but this does not make any sense to me. But, then when did government ever make sense.
