I'm new around here and to cafe racers so this is my introduction to the forum and a starting place for a BIG project i've undertaken.

i picked up this pile for 250 bones, and will be starting work on it immediately:

I'll be tearing it down this weekend and starting work. I'm also hunting for some parts, gotta get my cafe seat/tank, forks etc right away.

I'm thinking copper-bronze, flat black, and polished will look pretty good.

That looks like the bike and pile of parts I sold earlier this week to some guy for $250 ;D Looks like you found the site! I think I'll be following this build closely 8) Keep us updated!

ah yes, hey chris! same pile of parts and bike indeed.

anywho,

i didnt make as much progress as i wanted to today, pulled the banged up exhaust off so it'd sit on my jackstand, and got the rear wheel yanked off:

then i had some fun polishing bits and pieces:

you can't really tell in the shoddy cell pic, but the before/after is SIGNIFICANT. the cleaned up one SPARKLES!

nothing like a little media blasting to get some things matted down or sparkling with a little bit of steel wool. looks like youve got alot ahead with you, hope you get her running in the next couple months or sooner!

i picked up some more goodies today:

Is that a Supertrapp Megaphone in that first pic?? Are you going to use it? If not let me know if you need anything and we might be able to trade.

I don't think so, I'm pretty sure its just the stock 4 into 1. ???

forgive me guys, i dont know much about the aftermarket goodies.

Yes they did, it was called the CB750F made from 1975 on. The 4 into 1 on that bike does not look like the F exhaust, it has a ginormous collector.

How bout that. I thought they were 4 into 2 like the later DOHC F's.

The 750K's were 4 into 4 from 1969 through 1978. The CB750A's were 4 into 2, and the CB750F's were 4 into 1.

good to know!

frame says 750K so i guess it is all aftermarket, it doesnt make any indication as to what make/model the exhaust is though.

anyway, I had a bit of time this afternoon to dink around and mount up the goldwing front end. no laughing at the stock bars or cb550 tank, but i needed a good idea how i fit the bike, since i've never ridden one. turns out, at 5'8" and a low cafe seat, I think i'll do just fine.

also, I think im going to prefer some adjustable clip ons instead of my dunstalls (which will require some modification to get them to thread to the goldwing fork tubes), so I'm open to offers for them as well as the cb550 tank, I can take detail pics on request
